Why I Am Your Pro Takes 0% Commission — Forever
By Justin Walker ·
If you've worked through a lead platform or a big freelance marketplace, you know the deal: you pay to be seen, you pay again when you win the job, and sometimes you pay for "leads" that were sold to four other pros at the same time. The platform wins on every transaction. The pro does the work and watches the percentages leave.
I Am Your Pro is built the other way around. The platform takes 0% commission on your jobs. Forever. Not as a launch promotion. Not for the first year. It's the model.
So how does the platform make money? Fair question — here it is
We'd rather show you the whole model than hide it in a fee schedule:
- Applying is free. You submit your skills, services, typical rates, service area, and portfolio at no cost.
- Every application is reviewed personally by the owner, Justin Walker. If you're approved and want to go live in the directory, that's a $25 one-time activation.
- Membership is $19/month. The first 50 pros — the Founding Pros — lock $19/month for life. No commission is ever added on top, on any job, at any size.
That's it. A pro who wins a $2,000 job keeps $2,000. A pro who wins ten jobs keeps all ten. The platform's income is memberships, which means the platform only grows when pros decide it's worth staying — which is exactly the pressure a platform should be under.
What 0% changes in practice
- Your rate is your rate. Quote what the job is worth without padding it to cover a platform cut.
- Clients get honest prices. When nobody skims the job, nobody has to inflate the job.
- One match, not a bidding war. Jobs are matched to a pro — clients browsing the pro directory or posting through the request form aren't buying a phone number that gets resold. You're not paying to compete with four strangers for the same lead.
The honest limits, up front
A directory membership is not a promise of work, and we won't sell it like one. I Am Your Pro does not guarantee jobs, leads, or earnings. Pros are matched when client requests fit their trade and area — starting with overflow and out-of-lane work from the owner's own service business. Vetting is real, which means not every application is approved. If you need guaranteed volume, this isn't the right platform, and we'd rather you know that before $25 than after.
Why "for life" is in writing
Founding Pros are taking the earliest risk on a young platform. The $19/month rate lock is the return on that risk, and it's stated in plain language on the Join as a Pro page — where you can also read the full pro terms before you apply.
Behind the scenes, the request inbox and the site's instant answers run on a managed assistant from Crafted Workspace AI — the same technology the owner sells to local businesses. The platform eats its own cooking.
